Hurricane Helene 2024
As a matter of public service, we would like to up-date you of out situation at Alt Bev due to several inquiries.
We were able to stay open our normal hours. We never lost electricity but we did lose internet for about 32 hours. The loss of internet meant that we were unable to accept credit cards or receive phone calls. We still accepted credit card by recording info and charging when we got the service back. Around 4pm on Friday, Police came by and warned us to evacuate because of the impending release of water from the dam at Mountain Island Lake, which we were told could raise the river from 10 inches to 10 feet. We remained on premises and stayed open our normal hours because our shop is about 30 feet above river level.
The river did rise overnight but only about 3-5 feet. part of the parking lot was under water and water was up to the pavilion that we use for some of our events.
We finally got internet service back around 4pm on Saturday.
So that you know, our facility is unlikely to loss electricity anytime because we are blessed to have an electric sub-station on the property. Also, we will do everything we can to take care of you even under imperfect conditions.
